Lord of Mysteries Merchant War Guide: S1.3 Caravan Trading
Trade War is the working English label this page uses for the S1.3 caravan-trading mode in the Lord of Mysteries game. It is not the real-world trade war, and it is not one of the wars in the novel — in game terms it is an economic mode in which you run a caravan between stations.
You own a caravan: buy goods at one station, sell them at another, and keep the spread. The caravan travels for you. Open the trade map, look at the stations, prices and the newspaper, then decide what to buy, where to sell, and whether to spend stamina to accelerate the trip.

Naming note
Chinese official text calls this mode a 贸易战 — literally a trade war. No official English name has been published, so this page uses Merchant War (caravan trading) as its working label, and other English coverage may call it Trade War. Either way it is not the real-world trade war and not one of the wars in the novel — in game terms it is an economic mode built on running a caravan between stations. This is the same disambiguation discipline this site applies to Season Raid.
What the S1.3 trade war actually is
Official fact base only — every claim below is logged in the sources ledger.
The mode ships with version S1.3 — the version window runs 2026-10-15 → 2026-11-11 and the mode goes live on 2026-10-15. You own a caravan, buy goods at one station and sell at another for the spread, and the caravan travels for you. Your loop is: open the trade map, look at the stations, prices and the newspaper, then decide what to buy, where to sell, and whether to spend stamina to accelerate.
It ignores damage output and gear score. What it tests is spotting a price gap, waiting for a price, and daring to hold stock.

Who this page is for
Players who want to earn during S1.3 without gearing up another build, and players who want to know what the mode is before any in-game tutorial lands. If you have never traded before, the six official steps in the start section are all the onboarding you need.
Stations, prices and tariffs
Preview readouts are samples, not server rates.
Every station has its own specialty goods. When a station is well stocked its prices are pushed down; when players buy it out, prices rise. Prices also move over time — the official preview screenshot shows a per-item price-trend chart and a price-refresh cooldown.
Stations named in the official preview
廷根中央 (Tingen Central) · 古堡南部 (Castle South) · 古堡西部 (Castle West)
A full station list, with locations and a specialty-goods table, is not published — see the pending ledger.
Who owns a station
After the strategy server activity ends, trade stations in the open world are awarded to the winning clubs. At a station you will see the club flag and the local station tariff, and club management can adjust that station's tax rate.
The busier the trading at a station, the more visible the tax revenue — which is how the trade war ties back to club politics.
鲁恩商报 (Loen Commerce Gazette) and the travelling merchant groups
Official advice, quoted: 跑商先看报 — read the paper before you run goods.
鲁恩商报 (Loen Commerce Gazette) is the in-game newspaper. It tells you where the travelling merchant groups are, whether they are still there, and when they may leave. The official explainer is blunt: never set off blindly.
Travelling merchant groups (商人团) appear in the open world during the event, drive between stations, and change local prices when they arrive.
- 流金商团 (Flowing Gold)
- Raises the sell price of station goods — this is the group you want in front of you when you are carrying stock.
- 丰饶商团 (Abundance)
- Lowers the buy price of the corresponding goods — this is the group you want before you restock.
One is good for selling, one is good for buying. Their stay is limited — miss it and it is gone (as the CN text puts it, 逾期不候).
The official six-step start
The official beginner route, kept in the official order — one sentence each.
Watch the gazette
Don't just stare at the current station's prices — the paper is what tells you what's coming.
Watch the tax rate
A high sell price means nothing if the tax rate is brutal.
Watch stamina
Don't burn the caravan's stamina for one extra coin.
Watch the merchant groups
Discounts and buy-up prices are both opportunities, but don't chase one that's too far away.
Upgrade the caravan first
A better cart is what lifts your earnings per run.
Always finish the daily commission task
That is your first pot of seed money.
The official explainer closes with a warning: don't try to be Buffett on day one. Make your first cartload profitable and the rules fall into place.

Trade war FAQ
- Q1.What is the trade war, and when does it launch?
- It is the S1.3 caravan-trading mode. No official English name is published, so this page calls it Trade War (caravan trading). Version S1.3 runs 2026-10-15 → 2026-11-11, and the mode goes live on 2026-10-15.
- Q2.Does it need combat power or gear score?
- No. The mode ignores damage output and gear score. What it tests is spotting a price gap, waiting for a price, and daring to hold stock.
- Q3.How do you actually make money?
- You own a caravan: buy goods at one station and sell them at another, and keep the difference. The caravan travels for you. Open the trade map, look at the stations, prices and the paper, then decide what to buy, where to sell, and whether to spend stamina to accelerate.
- Q4.Why do station prices move?
- Every station has its own specialty goods. A well-stocked station pushes prices down; players buying it out pushes prices up. Prices also move over time, and the official preview screenshot shows a per-item trend chart plus a price-refresh cooldown.
- Q5.How do the gazette and merchant groups work?
- 鲁恩商报 (Loen Commerce Gazette) tells you where the travelling merchant groups are, whether they are still there and when they may leave — the official advice is 跑商先看报, read the paper first. Merchant groups drive between stations and change local prices when they arrive: 流金商团 (Flowing Gold) raises the sell price of station goods, 丰饶商团 (Abundance) lowers the buy price of the corresponding goods.
- Q6.Who sets station tariffs, and how are clubs involved?
- After the strategy server activity ends, open-world trade stations are awarded to the winning clubs. At a station you see the club flag and the local tariff, and club management can adjust that station's tax rate. The busier the trading, the more visible the tax revenue.
- Q7.What should I do on day one?
- Follow the official six steps: watch the gazette, watch the tax rate, watch stamina, watch the merchant groups, upgrade the caravan first, and always finish the daily commission task. The official closing line: do not try to be Buffett on day one — make your first cartload profitable.
- Q8.Does it cost stamina, and is the mode permanent?
- Stamina exists and can be spent to accelerate the caravan — the official preview screenshot shows 54/100, but the cap, the regeneration rate and the acceleration cost are not published (see pending row p3). On permanence: the official material we read does not state that the mode is permanent, so this page treats it as unconfirmed and keeps it in the pending ledger.
